Disruption to travel as Storm Dennis hits Surrey and Hampshire

Storm Dennis is impacting on travel across Surrey and Hampshire this weekend.

Highways Agency are advising people to only travel if necessary and check the forecast before they set off.

If you do decide to head out on the roads, allow plenty of time for your journey.

Flights are affected with cancellations at Heathrow and Gatwick today (15 February).

Easyjet have cancelled 96 flights at Gatwick and Heathrow have cancelled 37 short haul flights.

Airports are also expecting delays to flights due to Storm Dennis.

Passengers are advised to contact their airline for information.

South Western Railway is warning train travel could be affected by flooding and trees blocking lines.

Train services could be altered, cancelled or revised.

The advice the operator is issuing is to check before you travel.

There is already disruption in and out of London Waterloo this weekend because of engineering works. 

Ferry travel to the Isle of Wight is also disrupted - Hovertravel services are suspended between Southsea and Ryde.

Meanwhile, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service are appealing to the public to only contact 999 in a "genuine emergency."
