Flood warning issued on River Wey

A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency on the River Wey at Elstead and Eashing.

We're told that flooding is expected for both Elstead and Eashing and that immediate action is required.

Property flooding is possible after river levels have risen because of of heavy rainfall.

Flood Warning
The red region is the area covered by the flood warning, while the orange is for the lesser flood alerts.

In a statement the Environment Agency said:

"River levels have risen on the River Wey as a result of heavy rainfall.

"Therefore, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible later this evening and tomorrow morning.

"River levels are beginning to peak and will remain steady, with no further rise forecasted over the next 24 hours.

"We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Please remain safe and aware of your local surroundings."
