Police name Surrey murder victim

Surrey Police have named a man who died in Weybridge on Wednesday (8 January) as Glen Hopgood.

The 52-year-old local man died at an address on Old Palace Road shortly after emergency services attended the scene.

His family has been informed and specialist officers have been providing support to his relatives.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Pirie said:

“Our thoughts are with Mr Hopgood’s family at this difficult time.

"A man has been charged as part of our investigation in relation to Mr Hopgood’s death.

"I would like to thank all of the officers and staff who have worked tirelessly to progress our enquiries over the last forty-eight hours”.

Earlier today officers charged a 59-year-old man from Weybridge with murder.
