There have been several instances of flooding in Surrey after heavy rain overnight.

Soon after 8am all traffic was held briefly while lane closures were removed.

On the A31 Alton Road in Runick there have been reports of flooding at River Lane.

Some vehicles were stranded in the water with Surrey Police having to rescue motorists.

They are advising drivers to take extra care in areas where there are large pools of water.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service tweeted overnight that they were called to reports of flooding along Winkworth Road in Banstead.

Meanwhile, the Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for Cranleigh Waters meaning flooding is possible, although flooding of properties is not expected.
