Surrey Police have released the name of the pedestrian who died several days after being hit in a multi-vehicle crash last week.

He is Dmitry Obretetskiy, who lost his life on November 30 after suffering serious injuries following the collision involving three vehicles in Warren Lane in Oxshott.

Dimitry was out walking his dog when it happened at around 4:45pm five days earlier, on November 25.

His family have asked that people not speculate on the circumstances, saying this could impact the investigation - and cause them "additional anxiety and pain at this most difficult time."

They have also said they do not want to release a photo of him.

They paid tribute to Dimitry, describing the 49 year old as a "quiet and private man", and saying they "have lost a most amazing person who filled our lives."

And they thanked "everyone for their support at this awful time and take courage and strength from the sympathy expressed."

The family also asked for their privacy to be respected "at this painful time as we are trying to cope with this horrendous incident and the loss of our father and best friend."

They also issued an appeal for witnesses to contact the police.

Officers have said the investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.

They are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting incident reference PR/P19274056.
