"Dead headless piglet" found in Farnham Park

"Dead headless piglet" found in Farnham Park

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 3:58pm 9th October 2019. (Updated at 5:55pm 9th October 2019)

A member of the public has found a piglet with its head missing while out walking in Farnham Park.

They discovered it on the side of the path close to the Oast House Lane entrance shortly after midday today (9 October).

A dog walker who also saw the carcass described it as "horrible", adding "the rest of it was intact, just the head missing".

Having been reported to both the Park Ranger and animal welfare group SNARL, the incident has prompted speculation as to what caused it and how the animal ended up there.

In a statement SNARL said they had requested the piglet's body to be examined by a vet to determine if it was the result of animal predation or other means, saying it's injuries seemed unusual.

In a statement, Waverley Borough Council said:

“We are aware of the incident and can confirm a dead piglet was found in Farnham Park.

"It has been moved from public view whilst we report it to the relevant authorities regarding its disposal.”
