Surrey Police are looking into a serious sexual assault in Walton-on-Thames.

A woman was attacked on September 5, after she was approached by a man while walking from The Heart shopping centre to the train station at around 11:15pm.

She was approached by a man who told her he was also going to the station.

He then took her down an unfamiliar route and pushed her to the ground in an alleyway, and sexually assaulted her, before running away.

The suspect is described as white, in his 40s, around 5ft 8 tall with short, dark brown hair.

A 28 year old local's been arrested on suspicion of rape, and released under investigation.

Officers want to speak to anyone who might have seen what happened, or who has any other information.

Surrey Police can be contacted on 101 or online, quoting crime reference number PR/45190094079.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to leave your name, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
