Trespasser blocks all lines through Woking

Trespasser blocks all lines through Woking

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 10:23am 12th September 2019. (Updated at 11:08am 12th September 2019)

A trespass incident on the railway has blocked all lines travelling through Woking this morning.

Operator South Western Railway says the route has now reopened and services have resumed.

However the incident, which was reported just before 10am, is expected to cause disruption until 3pm.

SWR says trains running through the station "may be cancelled, delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised".

In a statement SWR said:

"Until the emergency services and railway staff were able to assist the individual to a place of safety all power to the lines had to be switched off, this meant that no trains were able to pass through the Woking area.

"The individual is no longer on the railway and power has now been restored to all lines.

"Trains may be subject to delay and short notice alterations whilst we work to get trains back to schedule.

"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."
