Haslemere 21-year-old remembered with charity football tournament

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 6:03am 25th August 2019.

A charity football tournament is taking place in Haslemere later in memory of a 21-year-old killed in a crash in Surrey.

Zak Combe died in a collision on the A3 during the early hours of 3 June 2017.

The event at Haslemere Cricket club is organised by his parents Jason and Juliet Combe, as well as his brother Harry Combe.

All proceeds from the event will go towards Brake, the road safety charity, a cause close to the family’s heart.

Jason, Zak’s father, said:

"That was Zak's passion he just loved football, from when he was a five year old.

"He was very special, he had friends all over the place - he was just beautiful inside and out.

"If you haven't been what we've been through you wouldn't know who Brake are and I hold my hands up I didn't know who they were.

"They're just there at the end of the line and they were a massive support to us and whatever we can raise and give back to them, they will be continuing their great work."

As well as the 150 player strong 7-a-side tournament, entertainment includes a full open bar, food supplied by a local celebrity chef, Dylan’s ice cream van on site, music, Raffle and silent auction.

Anyone is welcome to attend on the day at Haslemere Cricket club on Old Haslemere Road.

It runs from 12pm-10pm and will end with a moment of thought and a 21 balloon release.
