Cranleigh Folk Festival CANCELLED

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 6:30pm 13th August 2019.

The Cranleigh Folk Festival 2019 has been cancelled.

The three-day event had been due to take place between 13-15 September.

Over 3,000 visitors were expected to attend each day of the festival in Knowle Park.

Confirmed headliners had included Jethro Tull, Martin Barre, and support from artists like Emilia Quinn, Nine Miles South, Backwoods Creek, Shaun Reilly, Telephone Road.

The plug was pulled on the event after organisers struggled to secure enough sponsorship.

In a statement they said:

"The Folk Festival is designed to provide funds for the 1170 charity which supports the restoration work required for St Nicholas Church Cranleigh.

"The decision to postpone the event has been taken after careful consideration and is done to ensure the charity is not compromised financially."

Organisers of the Folk Festival have also thanked all those who gave their time to the event and say they are committed to meeting their obligations in full.
