Man dies in Farnborough crash

A man in his 20s has died following a serious crash in Farnborough which shut a road for nearly nine hours. 

The collision happened along Cherrywood Road between Prospect Avenue and Peach Tree Close during the early hours. 

Police say an Audi A5 collided with a lamppost on Cherrywood Road, shortly after 1am.

South East Ambulance has confirmed that they sent crews including an air ambulance to the scene. 

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Farnborough, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The incident has been referred to the IOPC as a patrol car was following the vehicle at the time of the collision.

The road was shut for nearly 9 hours but reopened just before 10am.
