M25 CLOSED after lorry jacknifes in multi-vehicle crash

Published by Carol Musgrave at 6:10am 11th July 2019. (Updated at 4:17pm 11th July 2019)

Drivers faced major disruption on the M25 on Thursday as part of it is closed following a serious crash.

The road was shut for nearly ten hours after a lorry jacknifed just before 5am (July 10).

Two other vehicles, including a car and London taxi, were involved in the crash which happened between Leatherhead and the Wisley Interchange.

The clockwise side was closed between Junction 8 and 10 between 7am and 3pm.

Emergency services were at the scene dealing with a fuel spillage.

The air ambulance landed earlier for around 30 minutes - which also affected the anti-clockwise side, with traffic on that side held to allow it to land and take off again.

Highways England warned the motorway could have stayed shut until 4pm this afternoon but the closure was lifted just before 3pm.

A diversion was in place  but has since been lifted.
