Warning after fake £50 notes used in Virginia Water

Published by Josh Kerr at 9:40am 20th June 2019.

Local businesses are being warned after a number of counterfeit banknotes were used in Virginia Water.

Surrey Police said they received at least two reports of fake £50 notes being used to pay in shops in the area yesterday (19 June).

Officers are now urging shop and cafe owners to remain vigilant for anyone attempting to spend such notes.

The force has also released a description of a man believed to be responsible.

It is thought he is white, in his twenties and around five foot seven inches tall with a slim build.

He is said to have dark hair tied in a pony tail, an unkempt goatee beard and was dressed in all black at the time.

If you spot any suspicious activity in a shop or have CCTV images of the man you are asked to call 101, quoting 45190063769.
