Surrey & Hampshire braced for thunderstorms

Published by Lucinda Horsley at 11:20am 16th June 2019.

Surrey and Hampshire are being braced for thunderstorms.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for our area for the start of the week.

The alert is in place:

  • Between 1800 on Tuesday (June 18) to 9pm on Wednesday (June 19).

Forecasters are warning torrential rain may develop, bringing thunder, hail and lightning to a few places.

We're warned they could break out on Tuesday evening, before developing more widely overnight.

Up to 50mm of rain could fall, the Met Office says.

It is set to dry up throughout the morning on Wednesday, before further thunderstorms developing in a few places on Wednesday afternoon.
