South Western Railway launches free on-board streaming service

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 6:45pm 13th June 2019.

South Western Railway has launched a streaming service for passengers travelling on its on long-distance services from Waterloo station.

Called SWR|Stream, it features nearly 500 hours of complimentary TV shows and movies, including programmes from ITV, HayU, Now TV and UKTV.

Customers travelling on long-distance Waterloo services to Portsmouth, Southampton and Weymouth can connect their mobile phone, tablet or laptop devices via the onboard Wi-Fi, or through the SWR app, to start watching.

Peter Williams, SWR Commercial and Business Director, said:

"Investing in the latest entertainment and Wi-Fi technology reflects our commitment to improving the onboard experience for commuters, business and leisure customers.

"SWR|Stream offers the ‘cinema in your seat’ experience. In the palm of their hands, customers of all ages can lose themselves in new adventures, catch-up on existing ones or learn about the issues of the day, before reaching their destination. There’s something for everyone on Stream.

"Every customer travelling on our mainland trains will be able to access SWR|Stream as the roll out is expected to be completed by 2020."
