Hampshire man taking on 24-hour flight simulation for charity

Published by Josh Kerr at 6:00am 25th May 2019.

A Hampshire man who was diagnosed with prostate cancer is taking to the virtual skies to raise money for charity.

Clem Bufrord from Lindford is flying for 24 hours in a flight simulator all in aid of the Prostate Cancer Research Centre.

As well as funds, Clem also wants to raise awareness of the condition to help others get diagnosed earlier - improving chances of survival.

On the challenge ahead, he said:

"Never heard anybody else doing it before so I thought it's a good idea, people will like it and hopefully I can raise some money.

"I've flown in the simulator for, well, the maximum was to Cyprus which was about four and a half hours - but this is something totally new."

Clem (Top Right) with his family.

Clem, who underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy, is urging men, particularly those who are older to get checked.

He added:

"The initial check can be a bit shocking, a bit surprising - but once you've done it you then know whether you are at risk or not.

"I didn't have my check until I was, well, the first one I had was about 55 and then I left it until I was 60."

You can follow Clem's progress via his Facebook page and donations have be given online.
