Jeremy Hunt to run for Tory leadership

Jeremy Hunt

Published by Josh Kerr at 2:08pm 24th May 2019.

South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt has said he plans to run for leader of the Conservative Party.

The Foreign Secretary confirmed he plans to stand in the leadership race whilst speaking at the Haslemere Festival earlier today.

When asked if he would be throwing his hat in the ring he responded by saying that he would.

The announcement comes just hours after Prime Minister Theresa May said she would leave No. 10 on 7 June.

A spokesman for Mr Hunt's office confirmed his intention to run for the top job, but added no official statement would be made today.
