Published by Carol Musgrave at 6:59am 24th May 2019. (Updated at 9:22am 24th May 2019)

A huge blaze in the open has broken out in Hartley Wintney where massive swathes of woodland and gorse have been destroyed.

At least 40 firefighters rushed to Hazeley Heath at around 5:30pm yesterday (May 23) to find an area of 200 metres  x 200 metres well alight.

It took them at least 9 hours to put out what they described as a fast-moving fire over difficult terrain.

The blaze was extinguished by around 2:30am.
