Guildford's Christ's College win prestigious Alan Turing award

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 6:29pm 22nd May 2019.

Students from Christ's College in Guildford have won the prestigious Alan Turing Cryptography Competition.

The team of four students, consisting of brothers Ben Browning, Tim Browning, and siblings Peter Meiklem and Hannah Meiklem, put their maths and code breaking skills to the test.

The team collected their award on Wednesday 1st May 2019 in Manchester, beating school from all around Great Britain.

The competition follows the story of two young cipher sleuths, Mike and Ellie, as they get caught up in a cryptographic adventure 'The Tale of the Data Deception'.

Every few weeks a new chapter of the story is released, each with a fiendish code to crack, until all six are resolved.

The team from Christ’s were consistent in their efforts and code breaking skills and were the first nationally to crack the final code.
