Fire breaks out on Horsell Common in Woking

Fire crews are damping down after a blaze broke out on Horsell Common in Woking.

Approximately 3 hectares were alight, with firefighters from Woking and Chertsey battling the flames.

The fire was out at around 3:10pm with crews expected to remain at the site for some time to treat hot spots.

A Surrey Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:

"We received a call this afternoon around 12.45pm to a report of a fire on Horsell Common, Horsell.

"One fire engine was sent alongside a couple of specialist units. They arrived on the scene at around 12.55pm.

"The fire radius is approximately 3 hectares."
