South Western Railway is investigating one of its drivers who appeared to broadcast porn over the train's tannoy system.

A passenger onboard the service posted a 30 second clip of the incident on Twitter, with passengers seemingly amused but confused as to where the sound was coming from.

According to The Times it happened on a Waterloo-bound service, after an announcement about a short delay to the journey.

The passenger claimed many commuters were left red-faced and giggling with a woman asking: "Is that coming from the driver?"

South Western Railway says it is aware of the incident and is investigating what happened.

The tweet has received more than 5,000 retweets and over 20,000 likes.

South Western Railway apologised for the "wholly unacceptable incident".

“We have a policy of blocking inappropriate material, including pornographic websites, on its onboard and station Wi-Fi services.

“We are investigating this incident to establish how this material was broadcast on our service.

“Today’s incident is wholly unacceptable and we apologise to customers.”

TfL commented on Twitter that it was “thankfully not one of our trains or drivers”, after the passenger commented that it involved a "tube driver."
