Weekend wind warning for Surrey and Hampshire

Windy tree storm

Published by Carol Musgrave at 1:31pm 15th March 2019. (Updated at 1:33pm 15th March 2019)

The Met Office is warning of strong winds across our area, with a weather warning in place for most of Saturday.

It is one of several wind alerts issued since last weekend.

The warning is in place from 4am on March 16 through to 9pm the same day.

Gusts of 45-55 mph are expected across a wide area, and 60-65 mph in more exposed locations.

It is affecting the whole of the southern UK with delays to public transport likely, and longer journey times for rail and bus services.

Motorists are also warned to take extra care especially those driving high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.
