Guildford pub targeted by burglars for second time in two months

Robin Hood Guildford

Published by Josh Kerr at 5:06pm 12th February 2019.

The manager of a Guildford pub has said she just wants to “work in peace” after a second burglary in less than two months.

Thieves broke into the Robin Hood along Sydenham Road during the early hours of Monday morning (11 January), taking the till and its contents, an iPad, bottles of drink and a pasta machine.

The incident comes after £6,000 of alcohol and other stock was stolen from the storage garage next to the pub on 19 December.

Veru, the manager of the pub, realised there was a disturbance at around 3am on Monday when she heard thieves force entry via the kitchen.

She added:

“It’s scary, not because I know that they are stealing something, it’s scary because you don’t know what their limit is.

“You don’t know if you face them what’s going to happen.”

Surrey Police say they are aware of the burglaries and that enquiries remain ongoing to establish whether the incidents are linked.

Veru added:

“I’m working so hard, 24/7 I can say for this pub.”

“I really would like these people to leave me alone, because not everybody is so committed to something like their dream.

“What I would really like to get is a little bit of tranquillity, because it’s already hard as it is and I don’t need any more problems, I don’t need any more fuss, I don’t need any more robberies.

“I really just want to work in peace.”
