Tribute paid to Alton College governor killed in collision

The family of a 70 year old woman hit by a car and killed in Hampshire have paid tribute to her. 

Elaine Helen McAuley Billington, who was a governor of Alton College, sustained fatal head injuries after she was hit by a black Citroen DS5 on 10 January. 

Her family has released a statement paying tribute to her: 

"Elaine was full of energy, and was very active in the local community. 

"She will be deeply missed by her friends and family, including her husband John, her children Anna and David, and her four grandchildren Harvey, Fraser, Thomas and Douglas."

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at 3.50pm on 10 January in The Spain in Petersfield. 

Mrs Billington was crossing the road when she was hit by the car, which was turning right from Charles Street. 

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting Operation Ochre.
