Travellers pitch up on Bannisters Field in Guildford

Bannisters Field Travellers

Published by Josh Kerr at 4:05pm 11th January 2019.

A group of travellers have pitched up on Bannisters Field in Guildford.

The encampment on the site near the Royal Surrey appeared earlier today (11 January) and currently consists of 10 caravans and a number of vehicles.

In a statement Guildford Borough Council said:

"We are aware of the traveller encampment at Bannisters Field, and are in the process of doing all we can, as quickly as possible following our unauthorised encampment process.

"We are monitoring the situation and have provided the occupants with bin bags, and made arrangements to remove any rubbish."

Bannisters Field was also one of several sites in Guildford to see an unauthorised encampment this summer.
