BREAKING: Police raid at farm in Ripley

A police raid is being carried out at a farm in Ripley. 

The RSPCA say they are executing a warrant at Hurst Farm along Portsmouth Road. 

Our reporter at the scene says around 50 horses and other animals in a field are being taken away. 

Local residents report previous incidents of animal cruelty.

Vets and other charities are currently on site ensuring the welfare of the animals.

 An RSPCA spokesperson said:

“On Wednesday (9 January) RSPCA officers joined Surrey Police to execute a warrant at a farm in Ripley, Surrey, under the Animal Welfare Act.

“The investigation is ongoing so we can’t go into any further detail at this time. However, we would like to thank Surrey Police, Guildford Borough Council, Bucks and Surrey Trading Standards, Bransby Horses, Redwings, The Horse Trust, The Donkey Sanctuary, World Horse Welfare, Dogs Trust and the vets who attended for their assistance."
