Flood alert for parts of Surrey and Hampshire

Published by Carol Musgrave at 6:12am 19th December 2018.

A flood alert is in place for parts of Surrey and Hampshire as rain continues to fall across the area.

Following widespread and persistent, heavy rain, the Environment Agency has issued the alert for the Upper River Wey including Alton, Farnham, Bordon, Frensham, Tilford, Godalming, Guildford and Peasmarsh.

Another alert has been issued for Loxwood Stream in Chiddingfold to Drungewick in West Sussex.

The Environment Agency says flooding of properties is not expected, however we should be prepared for flooding of low lying land and roads.

The agency is warning that flood waters may be deep and fast flowing.
