The Camberley care home resident who has made 1000's of Christmas cards

Patricia Griffiths

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 5:04pm 7th December 2018.

81-year-old Patricia Griffiths is making Christmas cards to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association.

Pat, as she's known, is a resident of a Kings Lodge care home in Camberley and started her "hobby" only seven years ago with the help of her daughter Alison.

Since then she has made 1000's of greetings cards for all occasions.

She uses recycled materials and old cards to make new ones and in October made over £100 for the Alzheimer's Association.

Pat said:

"I took a lesson as part of an activity in a care home and decided to continue it," she explained.

"I have made 1000's since then, there is always someone asking for a card for an occasion, a wedding, a christening and now of course Christmas.

"I particularly like the Christmas cards with the stags and deer's on as we have a nature trail behind the (care) home and we see lots of them bouncing through the grass and trees."

Peter Lloyd from Aura Care Living which run Kings Lodge said:

"Patricia is so creative and has helped us all out when it comes to our greetings cards, whether it is Mothers Day or Valentines. It is incredible to think that she only started seven years ago.

"Her Christmas cards are on our reception and money from the sale of the cards will go to our nominated charity - the Alzheimer's Association."
