Farnborough infants school vandalised TWICE in a week

South Farnborough Infants

Published by Carol Musgrave at 10:29am 21st November 2018.

A Farnborough school has fallen victim to vandals after two incidents of damage to school property in a week.

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that they received a report from South Farnborough Infants in Queens Road after the roof of a building and a playhouse were found damaged.

Officers say it happened some time between 6:30pm on Monday (November 19) and 7:30am on Tuesday.

According to an email sent out to parents, a new playhouse had been pushed over with the windows smashed.

The same playhouse had just been repaired voluntarily by two members of the school community after it was found smashed up last week.

The email said: "School is evidently the victim of on-going mindless vandalism at the moment, for some unknown reason!"

Head teacher Helen Fletcher Davies told Eagle the incidents were an "...ongoing and upsetting problem..."

She praised people for rallying together to help, including the two who fixed the playhouse, and the North Camp Matters community group which donated £100 towards repairs:

"It is very hard to be teaching our children about care and respect when they see this sort of damage being done to their play things.

"However, we are massively grateful that we live within such a kind community and must always remind ourselves that the vandals are in a tiny minority."

Hampshire County Council has offered to have CCTV fitted, with Mrs Fletcher adding "it is sad that we had to go down this route in an Infant School."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact the police on 101.
