Rugby fans warned South Western Railway strike could affect travel

Twickenham

Published by Carol Musgrave at 6:42am 2nd November 2018. (Updated at 7:39am 2nd November 2018)

If you are using South Western Railway tomorrow to get to Twickenham for the England test match, you are warned to allow extra time for your journey.

From 00:01 on November 3, the first of three Saturday strikes this month gets underway, as RMT union workers walk out in an ongoing dispute over the role of guards on trains.

Services will be reduced for 24 hours until the strike ends at 23:59.

The action takes place during England's first Autumn International at Twickenham against South Africa, with kick off at 3pm.

SWR is advising fans to allow extra time for their journey, particularly those coming from the west.

Extra trains are being laid on to and from Waterloo, before and after the match.

For more on travel affecting Twickenham, check below under  'South West London (Richmond, Brentford, Windsor and Reading') .

The latest action comes after a five-day stoppage last week in the longstanding row between the union and the operator.

Tomorrow's walk out will be followed by two more schedules strikes on Saturday November 17 and Saturday November 24.
