New WW1 memorial unveiled in Epsom

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 1:44pm 11th October 2018.

A new mural at the Ashley Centre in Epsom has been unveiled, commemorating those who died in World War 1.

444 residents of Epsom and Ewell lost their lives in the Great War 100 years ago.

Their names will be listed on a large new mural that has been unveiled by the Mayor of Epsom and Ewell Councillor Neil Dallen.

Representatives from the local branch of The Royal British Legion were also at the ceremony.

The Ashley Centre is also collecting local people’s individual stories of the part their loved ones played during the war.

If you, or someone you know lost a loved one during World War I, The Ashley Centre would love to hear from you on 01372 742548.

The mural will be on display opposite Quest in The Ashley Centre for one month from October 11 until November 11.
