Elderly Aldershot man missing for over a week

Dhanpati Rai

8:16am 12th July 2018

An elderly Nepalese man from Aldershot has now been missing for a week.

Hampshire Police have renewed their appeal as they continue to search for 74-year-old Dhanpati Rai.

Mr Rai, who is vulnerable and speaks very little English, was last seen in the Kings Road area of Aldershot at around 7am on July 4.

Since then he has not been in contact with any friends or family, which is described as very out of character for him.

He is described as 5ft 7ins tall, slim, and was last seen wearing black trousers, a light green long sleeved shirt and a waistcoat.

Mr Rai is also known to wear a dark coloured baseball cap.

Detective Inspector Lee McClellan said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Mr Rai’s welfare as he has been missing for a full week now with no contact with friends or loved ones.

“Extensive enquiries have been carried out by officers in the area to find him, but we continue to urge anyone in the Aldershot area to keep an eye out for Mr Rai and to report any sightings to us.

“We know that he enjoys walking around the Caesar’s camp area outside the town of Aldershot, as well as visiting the Wellington Statue, so we ask anyone who is planning on visiting these areas to let us know immediately if they see him.

"Please dial 999 in the event of an emergency.”

If you have seen Mr Rai, or have any information relating to his whereabouts, contact Hampshire Constabulary on 101, quoting 44180251135.
