East Hampshire District Council has set aside £1m for organisations in Whitehill and Bordon to improve community facilities.

The money has been provided by local housing developers to fund projects in the area.

Cllr Angela Glass, EHDC's Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for clubs and groups in Whitehill & Bordon to make their mark on the town.

"Thanks to our legal agreement with our developers each new home built here draws with it a financial contribution for use on community facilities.

"There are so many groups who work to make the town a better place to live. If they have a plan but need funding to see it through, we want to hear from them."

There are 3 categories into which the bids for funds can fall:

- Community Facilities - community and leisure facilities including new cultural, community arts or heritage    facilities
- Sport and Leisure - new or enhanced sports facilities in the town
- Open Space and Play Areas - Improvements to public open space in the Whitehill & Bordon area

Councillor Ferris Cowper, EHDC's Portfolio Holder for Whitehill & Bordon, said: "One of the key successes of this regeneration is that it invests in all aspects of our community.

"This new source of cash invests in the vital areas of sport and leisure, open spaces and community facilities which shows just how far-reaching the project has become.

"Every aspect of daily life is being enhanced through the regeneration and the town is day by day becoming an exciting and sought-after place to work, live and play."

The deadline for submitting requests for funds is September of this year. However, more money could be made available next year as well.
