Drugs and weapons seized after police chase in Surrey

police

Published by Carol Musgrave at 6:11am 13th June 2018.

Three people have been arrested for drug and weapon-related offences after a police chase in West Molesey.

One of them was tasered after the vehicle he was in crashed into a parked car on First Avenue yesterday morning (June 12) at around 10:30am.

Police found Class B drugs in the vehicle, as well as a knife, baseball bat and a suspected noxious substance.

One of the passengers ran off - but two men and a woman have been taken into custody.

Sergeant Greg Turner from the Elmbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “The public may have seen a number of officers in the area this morning who were dealing with this incident which resulted in three arrests.

“There is no place in society for drugs and the kind of weapons we found in this vehicle and I hope the public are reassured that they are now off the streets.

“We are working extremely hard to stamp out cross border criminality and drug dealing and would urge the public to continue letting us know if they spot any suspicious behaviour.

“If you have information about suspected drug dealing or related crime in your area, please call 101 or report via our website.”

If you don’t want to speak to police, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

What are the signs of potential drug dealing?

  • Lots of visitors, who don’t stay very long, arriving at all times of the day and night
  • People waiting in cars outside particular properties exchanging small packets or cash
  • Lots of visitors bringing items such as T.V's or bikes but leaving empty handed
  • Lone/vulnerable neighbours suddenly having groups of young men living at their address

What we want to know:

  • Time, date and place
  • Vehicle registrations and the make, model and colour
  • Descriptions of people and details of what they were doing
  • Direction they travelling to and from
  • How many times you have seen them – is it always at the same time of day?

Surrey Police say you should not put yourself at risk while gathering this information.

And they say you should always pass the information to the police and not confront or approach suspected drug dealers.
