Armed robbery on Surrey bridle path

A man has had his phone and wallet stolen during an armed robbery in Banstead.

He was approached by two people along the bridle path that runs parallel to the town's train station shortly before 7:30am yesterday (16 May).

The pair, a man and a woman, who were believed to have been carrying a gun, demanded he handed over his valuables and also forced him to reveal his PIN number.

They were then seen heading towards Nork Way where they were captured on the above CCTV.

Police say the victim did not suffer any injuries during the robbery.

The suspects are described as:

  • A man and woman, both were wearing black hoodies and black trousers/jeans
  • The woman is believed to be in her late teens or early 20s 

Detective Sergeant Leigh Wall from East Surrey CID said: "The victim was fortunately not hurt in the robbery and has been able to assist us with the investigation.

"This is a serious offence and we are carrying out a robust investigation into the matter. We would like the public's help in identifying those responsible so we can stop them."
