Sites charge almost double for Farnborough Airshow tickets

(Updated 2:14pm 13th March 2018)

Organisers of the Farnborough International Airshow are advising “buyer beware” when purchasing tickets through resale and auction websites.

The move follows concerns that tickets and associated costs mean customers are paying far more than if they had brought the tickets directly.

In one incident a site charged £186 for two tickets, when the actual total cost should have been just £85.50.

Customers are being encouraged to only buy tickets directly, or if buying elsewhere to do their homework first, including any additional booking and transaction fees.

Group Marketing Director for the airshow, Andy Pearcey said: “At least look at what the values of the tickets are and what you can buy them for from our website.

“If they do that they’ll then realise very quickly that the other sites selling these tickets are pretty much a rip-off.

“You don’t know who you’re buying the tickets from and we’ve noticed on the websites the way they push tickets. Very often they’ll make it seem like there are no tickets left, which is in fact not true.

“If you’re buying tickets from someone you don’t know, there’s a chance that we might have found out and voided the tickets, so you might turn up and not be able to get in at all.”

The Farnborough International Airshow takes place every two years at Farnborough airport, this year it is taking place between 21-22 July.
