Shere teen starts business to pay tribute to brother

Shaha and Ben Cook

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 6:00am 12th March 2018. (Updated at 6:25am 12th March 2018)

A 13 year-old-girl from Shere has started a business to raise funds to pay tribute to her late brother.

Sasha Cook needs £2000 to buy an oak bench that will be placed in the village in memory of Ben Cook.

He was found dead in a swimming pool at a house in Oxshott last year after spending the night with friends. Last month an inquest found that he died from immersion in water.

Sasha has now set up Cotton Candy Slimes, selling the gooey toy slime, with the aim of purchasing a bench in Ben’s name.

She said: “It has been devastating and we have all been left heartbroken.  Ben’s death was a tragic accident, he was only 17 years old and I miss him terribly.

“I decided to channel my grief into something positive and set myself a goal to raise money for a memorial bench in Shere, where we shared so many happy family memories.

“This will be somewhere for us to sit and reflect and for us all to remember Ben."

Slime is a non-toxic, gooey product that comes in various different smells and textures.

Sasha believes it can have benefits for anyone and everyone over the age of four, from aiding with children’s cognitive development, to helping relieve stress and for older people to use as a physiotherapy aid to strengthen hands, wrists and arms.

She will be holding a pop-up shop in Shere  this weekend (March 17-18) and also has an online store.
