Man seriously injured after Epsom break-in

Chain

5:10pm 14th February 2018
(Updated 8:21am 15th February 2018)

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after two men broke into his house in Epsom.

It happened in Tonstall Road at 11pm on Sunday night (February 11).

They were confronted by the home owner who was seriously injured during the incident - he has since been released from hospital.

It is believed he might have left one of the intruders with facial injuries while trying to defend himself.

A unique neck chain was taken - as well as an IPhone in a black leather case.

The suspects then left the address in the direction of Briane Road.

They are described as in their early 20s, approximately 6ft tall, white, of slim build.

One was dressed in grey jogging bottoms, a grey zipped up sweatshirt and a black hooded jumper. He is thought to have brown hair.

The other was in black bottoms, a black zipped up sweatshirt and a black hooded jumper. Police say it is believed he has blonde hair.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the aggravated burglary. Detective Constable Gemma Cherrington said: “We are taking this incident extremely seriously and would ask anyone who has any information to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who might have been offered the chain as it’s likely it has been put up for sale by now.

"One of the men is also likely to have facial injuries as a result of the homeowner defending themselves."

Anyone with information should call 101 or report it online, quoting the reference number PR/45180015835.

You can also report any information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
