Godalming coop robbery

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 5:52pm 13th February 2018. (Updated at 6:35am 14th February 2018)

Staff at Godalming's Chruch Road Co-Op have been advised to 'remain vigilant' after it was robbed.

At around 21:45 on Friday 2 February police received reports that two men had stolen an empty cash box.

They were also told members of staff had been assaulted - officers say one member of staff suffered minor injuries and was left shaken.

PC Paul Armer said: "Our advice to shop staff would be to remain vigilant and mindful of their own personal safety at cashing up time and ensure CCTV is working and positioned correctly."

Police are keen to speak to two men seen in the above CCTV image in connection with the incident.

One was wearing an inside-out brown puffer coat and gloves. The second wore a black coat and carried a black Adidas holdall across his body.

Both are believed to have been wearing balaclavas or face coverings.

PC Armer added: "A man wearing an inside-out coat is rather unusual – if you remember seeing the two men in the CCTV images, please call.

"I would like to ask anyone that may have any seen something suspicious, or have any further information to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting PR/45180012566."
