PG in Panto

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 9:27am 12th February 2018. (Updated at 10:24am 12th February 2018)

Three panto productions in our area have been nominated for this year's Great British Pantomime Awards.

It is the second year the Awards is being held, with over 20 awards up for grabs, including Best Comic, Best Male and Female Baddie and Best Ensemble as well as awards for Lighting, Design and Direction.

Dick Whittington at the Yvonne Arnaud in Guildford - which featured Eagle Radio's Peter Gordon from the Breakfast Show, as the Sarah the cook - has three nominations.

They are 'Best Pantomime 750 seats and under' category. There is also a nomination for Kit Hesketh-Hervey in the 'Best Baddie' category and Bryan Hodgson for 'Musical supervision.'

Donovan Christian Carey from the Prince's Hall production of Aladdin in Aldershot has been nominated in the best Dame category.

Phil Hitchcock from Robin Hood at New Victoria Theatre in Woking is up for Best Speciality Act.

Sam Munday-Webb, co-founder said ‘‘We knew that it was never going to be an easy job to see and judge such a vast array of productions in such a short amount of time. Since we launched in 2016 we have been very lucky to have the industry behind us supporting the awards. They are being seen as something incredibly positive and filling a gap in our industry. We want pantomime makers to aspire to innovate as well as celebrate the wonderful traditions we have seen up and down the country".
