Shooting confirmed in Blackwater incident

Hampshire Police has confirmed a shooting incident in Blackwater yesterday (February 10).

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

It says “a teenager suffered gunshot wounds” and has appealed for witnesses.

Officers were called at 2.56pm to Hearsey Gardens where they found a 17-year-old boy with serious injuries.

The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.

Detectives are keen to identify any witnesses to establish the exact circumstances and the events leading up to this incident.

Chief Inspector Matt Reeves said: "This was a very serious incident which has left a young man in hospital

"We don't doubt that you will have your concerns, but fortunately incidents of this nature are rare in Hampshire.

"Detectives are continuing to carry out enquiries in the area, so please be assured that this is being taken very seriously.

"You will likely see a lot of officers in Blackwater today as we look to reassure the community, as well as investigate what has happened in Hearsey Gardens.

"If you have any concerns or any information that could help us, please do come and speak to us or give us a call on 101."

A 40-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from Blackwater, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody at this time.
