WATCH: YouTubers hide in Guildford Spectrum and film 'proper mad' overnight stay

12:51pm 12th January 2018
(Updated 3:42pm 12th January 2018)

A group of YouTubers have managed to remain in Guildford Spectrum overnight to film themselves in the pool and ice rink areas.

The video, posted by 'Discoboy', appears to show them hide in one of the pool's flumes until after the leisure centre closed.

Once it had, they filmed themselves on the slides, in the swimming pools and on the diving boards.

The group of four men then made their way to the ice rink, where they managed to play music out of the speakers, skate on the ice and even drive the Zamboni.

After setting off an alarm they scarpered, exiting through a fire door by the swimming pool.

The incident happened overnight on Tuesday 9 January.

Freedom Leisure, who operate Guildford Spectrum on behalf of Guildford Borough Council, have since condemned the men's actions.

The company says it is keen to discourage any future 'copycat' attempts, pointing out that someone could have been at risk of serious injury.

A spokesperson told Eagle Radio: "On 9 January four males were able to remain overnight in the Guildford Spectrum to film themselves in the pool and ice rink areas subsequently posting the video online.

"This appears to be in response to a global internet challenge which is currently trending and has seen other high profile facilities targeted.

"While we understand that this may look like simple good fun, it is our concern that someone could be at risk of serious injury and in a position with no support.

"In addition, the facilities could have easily been damaged by the actions of these individuals which would inconvenience many of our customers, thus we do not condone this activity and are currently working with the police who are taking the matter very seriously."

We are currently awaiting a response from Surrey Police.
