Flood alerts for Upper River Wey

Cranleigh Waters flooding

The Environment Agency is warning people to be prepared as they issue a flood alert for the Upper River Wey.

After heavy rain Thursday night (28th December), they say levels are rising quickly and flooding is possible in the area.

Property flooding is not currently expected but levels have been rising quickly in response to recent rainfall.

Upper River Wey including Alton, Farnham, Bordon, Frensham, Tilford, Godalming, Guildford and Peasmarsh are also likely to be affected.

The flood alert for Cranleigh Waters has since been lifted.

The Environment Agency are constantly monitoring river levels their staff are visiting the area today to remove blockages from the trash screen.

They are advising you to stay safe and be aware of your local surroundings, adding that flood waters may be deep and fast flowing.
