UK's first cancer festival to be held in Surrey

Trew Fields is the first of its kind being a cancer awareness and holistic health festival.

It will bring together health speakers, those living with cancer and wellbeing experts in an uplifting setting.

The festival takes place today (July 8) from 10am, and tomorrow (July 9) ending at 1pm.

It will be held at Thatched House Farm in Dunsfold, Surrey.

Sophie Trew, creator of the festival, was diagnosed with cancer when she was just 23. She said: "I remember feeling like every cell in my body was poisoned and was slowly dying. That is the summation of how treatment really feels."

She began looking into other treatments on top of hospital medication: "I started to look at nutrition and my mind set and I discovered this fascinating community of people doing amazing things."

The aim of the event is to create a more progressive and hope-filled couple of days around disease, prevention, holistic health and integrative medicine.

Workshops and classes, music and comedy, talks and discussions will all feature at Trew Fields. There is an onsite brewery, vegan street food, circus and fire performers, camping, and a tent dedicated to massage and holistic therapies.

Some speakers at the event include:

  • Patrick Holford: nutritionist and author of 37 books, including 'Say No To Cancer' which has sold millions of copies worldwide.
  • Sophie Sabbage: bestselling author of 'The Cancer Whisperer' which has been translated into 9 languages since its publication in 2016.
  • Kris Hallenga: diagnosed with stage four breast cancer at 23, Kris founded the game-changing charity CoppaFeel! to reduce late detection or misdiagnosed breast cancer.
  • Dr Henning Saupe: leading physician at the Arcadia Clinic in Germany. As well as being a medical doctor who had focused on cancer for 15 years, Henning also has a PhD in psychotherapy.

There are also free massages and therapies available.
