The Environment Agency is warning people to be prepared, although it says property flooding is not currently expected.

A yellow weather warning for rain is currently in place across the south east and is in place until 9am on Wednesday morning.

A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "If we receive this forecast rainfall, water levels in the Cranleigh area would be expected to rise quickly throughout the night in response. Flooding of low lying land and roads would be expected.

"We are constantly monitoring river levels and our staff are out in the area checking for and clearing blockages.

"Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings, flood waters may be deep and fast flowing. Please refer to river levels on the internet for current river levels."
