Thousands to gather for Aldershot Gurkha Football Cup

Around 10,000 people are expected to gather in Aldershot today for the Gurkha Football Cup.

40 veteran and non-veteran teams will compete in a number of nine a side matches at Queen's Avenue.

There will also be a variety of stalls, restaurants and shops at the event.

It is being organised by Tamu Dhee Association UK, the Nepalese Gurkha Association based in Mytchett.

Special guests will also be at the event, including local MPs, mayors and British Army officials.

Tamu Dhee UK Media Secretary, Rohit Gurung said: "This is one of the best events to have all Nepalese locals and high dignitaries coming together.

"Tamu Dhee UK organises the event in voluntary basis which will have around 200 Volunteers."

Tottenham Hotspur legendary defender Ledley King is a celebrity guest at this year's tournament.

It will be the 15th Gurkha Football Cup.
