Alton Charity Shop Theft 'Despicable' Say Police

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 9:46am 16th November 2016.

Police are appealing for information after cash was stolen during a burglary at an Alton charity shop.

The incident happened at some time between 4.50pm on Sunday, November 13 and 8.40am on Monday, November 14 at Scope charity shop on the High Street.

Between these times the offenders  forced open a fire escape to gain entry to the building.  Once inside they took approximately £30 cash.

PC Dave Parkinson, said: "Do you know who did this, or have you heard anyone boasting about breaking into a charity shop?  Stealing something is bad enough but stealing something from a charity where money is raised for worthy causes is absolutely despicable.  I would urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and speak to us in confidence and tell us what they know."
