Young film-maker from Guildford up for national recognition

A young film-maker from Guildford could fulfil his dream of making wildlife documentaries - but he needs your vote.

Fourteen year old James Miller's film about badgers has made it to the final round of a national competition.

The top prize would see James spend five days filming a wildlife documentary with a professional television presenter and their crew.

James said: "It is a documentary about badgers. In the competition you have to make a one and a half minute documentary about a specie of wildlife of your choice.

"The most important thing is that you present it well - that is what they are looking for.

"It's about badgers and how they maintain their sets - and how it is a common misunderstanding that badgers are filthy animals who spread TB when actually they are not that bad and they maintain their sets very well."

James' video is up against nine others.

"I've always been fascinated by badgers but I am particularly lucky in that they visit my garden every night and that has given me the opportunity to film them and get to know them a lot better than other people would.

"I set my camera up on a tripod when I am filming myself, although I did get my sister to help me with one of the scenes."

"If I wanted to move into presenting as a career it might be something which gives me an edge."
