Surrey nursing home rated 'inadequate' for safety

Published by the Eagle Radio News Team at 5:00am 19th August 2015. (Updated at 9:07am 19th August 2015)

An inspection of Deepdene Care Centre in Dorking has resulted in a rating of 'inadequate', meaning immediate improvements need to be made to care services there.

The nursing home provides accommodation for adults who require personal care, including treatment for injury or diseases such as dementia.

A report by the Care Quality Commission, which acts as a watchdog for care homes, highlighted concerns about safety, effectiveness and leadership after an inspection in June 2015.

The full report was published on 14th August and is available to view online.

The nursing home is based in Hill View in Dorking and managed by Lifestyle Care.

In a statement, the company said that the management there "acknowledge that there have recently been shortfalls in the standards of care and support of the residents in the Home, as published in the CQC report for the inspection that took place in June 2015.", adding "The staff team have been working closely with Surrey Council and the Care Quality Commission to address these shortfalls. Significant progress has already been made since the inspection in June."

"There is a vigorous programme in place to further improve the outcomes that residents at Deepdene may expect. Substantial developments in the support systems and structures are being made and the staff team are committed to ensuring that consistent positive progress is maintained. Since the CQC inspection a new management team has been put in place."
