Hampshire helpline open throughout bank holiday weekend

Published at 12:20pm 11th April 2020.

A dedicated Hampshire helpline for the county’s most vulnerable residents during the coronavirus outbreak will be open throughout the bank holiday weekend.

Hantshelp4vulnerable aids frail or vulnerable residents who do not have support from family, friends or their local community and need urgent assistance with essential food or household supplies, the collection of medication or who are at risk of loneliness.

The advice and information service has received more than 3,500 calls throughout the first 10 days of April.

Graham Allen, Hampshire County Council’s director of adults’ health and care, says it is important the authority is here to help vulnerable people at this time.

He said: “It is important that people know we are here to help over the Bank Holiday weekend, and I am pleased that we have been able to assist so many people over the past few days.

“Setting up the helpline, and associated work, has involved many staff from a wide range of agencies, but we are also heavily reliant on the large numbers of volunteers who have stepped forward to lend their support for our work across communities.”

Anyone in need of their assistance can call 0333 370 4000 between 09:00 – 17:00
